I am a computer scientist, musician, and occasional writer/photographer/teacher. A typical week finds me working on avionics software and playing music for my local church. Time-permitting, other activities include artificial intelligence research, music arrangement & recording, reading, rooting for conservative right-wing politics, and increasing in wealth.
I received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Cornell in 2002, have been in and around FSF Project GNU since 1998, and moderate the Lightweight Languages discussion group at CSAIL. I have recorded music at New Earth Studios in Laguna Niguel, and have played with Abraham Laboriel, Bill Maxwell, Tom Brooks, Dr. Art Aragon, Dr. Ed Dufresne, among others.
This website has gone through numerous revisions over the years, including plain HTML written in GNU Emacs, a custom content management system hacked together in Python, the CMS Made Simple content management system, and now a WordPress weblog. This most recent revision runs in parallel with my new approach to writing for the web, to wit: my longer essays could probably be pared down to briefer weblog posts, eliminating fluff without sacrificing meaningful content.
I live in the region of Earth known as the United States of America.
